KCHFF’s “Play It Forward™” campaign is riff on the “pay it forward” concept/film: if you’ve been fortunate, pass that good fortune on to the next person who needs it. We want those adults who played youth sports to help the next generation get in the game. Did you play youth sports? Did your coach change your life? Did youth sports teach you lessons you still remember? Then Play It Forward!
We’ve made a play on words but the concept is true: Play It Forward is a straight give-back, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting youth sports groups and leagues serving youth up to age 18 across the state. Donations provide low-cost/no-cost sports equipment, as well as funding officiating clinics leading to an increased number of certified referees for youth sports, among other projects.
WHO BENEFITS?
- EVERY CHILD IN KENTUCKY WHO PLAYS OR WANTS TO PLAY YOUTH SPORTS
- Every organized league run by adult volunteers is eligible to apply
In funding projects, preference is given to:
- smaller groups/leagues
- existing groups/leagues
- groups/leagues that accommodate players with special needs
- projects with a unified approach (mixing children of all ability levels for maximum socialization)
Examples of projects we will fund include:
- starting a unified sports team that includes players of all ability levels
- reimbursing those who get certified as youth sports officials
- buying uniforms or providing league-fee scholarships for new players who can’t afford them
- sponsoring officiating clinics for youth sports leagues
- reimbursing equipment purchases such as cones, practice pennies, striping paint
